Overview
A shared folder and a shared text box for every device on your local network, served as a web page. No internet needed, nothing to install on the other devices, and it works over plain HTTP — so old devices that can’t handle modern security can use it too.
How It Works
The page has three parts. A shared text box every device sees: paste a link, command, or config snippet on one machine and copy it on another, with changes showing up everywhere within a second (simultaneous edits are kept; last-writer-wins only when two people change the same spot). Upload by dragging files or whole folders onto the page. And browse, download, zip, or delete anything in the shared folder. You run FileDropServer.bat (or python filedrop_server.py) on the machine with the files; it prints an address like http://192.168.1.23 that any other device opens. The shared folder and text persist across restarts, and uploads never overwrite — a name clash becomes name (1).ext.
One Project, Not Two
This began as a separate standalone “FileDrop” tool, but that functionality was rolled into the server — so the server is the whole thing now, and the old standalone piece is retired.
Current Status
Working on the LAN: text sync, uploads, and browsing all live.
