Overview
A self-hosted stand-in for Splashtop: remote screen view and control, file transfer, Wake-on-LAN, computer groups, and multiple users each limited to a subset of machines — all reachable over outbound port 443 (no client-side firewall config), for the price of a small VPS, on infrastructure you own.
How It Works
Under the hood it’s a tailored, self-hosted deployment of MeshCentral — a mature open-source remote-management server that matches the Splashtop feature set and adds the Linux support Splashtop never had. The repo is really a runbook: a PLAN (why MeshCentral, and the two other options weighed against it), a SETUP guide (rent a VPS, point DNS at it, run the install script), and a MIGRATION guide (recreate groups and users with per-group access, deploy agents, wire up Wake-on-LAN).
Current Status
A documented, repeatable deployment — plan, setup, and migration runbooks ready to stand up on a fresh VPS.
