Overview
Turns the SMS / iMessage threads from an extracted iPhone backup into a PDF book for easy archiving, and a website version with the messages and their attachment media laid out for easy browsing.
Now Part of Phone Search
This began life as a couple of standalone Python scripts, but it turned out simpler to fold the whole thing into the Phone Search Tool — so today it’s a flag you pass to that program and it builds out the website and PDFs. (That’s also why it doesn’t have its own folder in the usual place: the code lives inside Phone Search now.)
How It Works
It reads the messages and media straight out of the backup and renders two outputs: a print-friendly PDF “book” of the conversation, and a static website that shows each thread with its photos and attachments inline — the readable archive that the search side then indexes.
Current Status
Shipping as a mode of the Phone Search Tool: point it at a backup, pass the flag, get the book and the website.
